- If the client is stranded more than 100 km away from home after a breakdown and
the vehicle needs to be towed to a repairer, the following will be arranged and
R500 paid towards
- courtesy transport for the client and a maximum of 6 persons to one nominated
destination

- hotel accommodation for the client and a maximum of 6 persons if there is an overnight
delay
|
|
OR
|
- car hire for a 24 hour period, subject to the client’s provision of a credit card
guarantee and limited to rental charges, delivery and collection of the hire vehicle,
the first tank of fuel and surrender of the vehicle on arrival at the destination
R500 will also be paid toward the cost of collecting the vehicle and returning it
to the client’s normal place of residence after the repair has been effected.
The Breakdown Assistance service has a maximum annual limit of 3 call-outs per insured
vehicle.
Accident Assistance

No limit is set for accident towing under this benefit.
Note: clients are requested to place the Auto & General Towline stickers on
insured vehicles and also to call 0860 10 42 10 after accidents for towing arrangements.
Towing and storage arranged with unauthorised operators will be for the client’s
own account. This may also have a negative impact on claims settlement as repairs
will be delayed while the client negotiates the price to release the vehicle from
the unauthorised operator’s facilities.

to information regarding all major entertainment events, the booking of hotel accommodation,
restaurants and general travel arrangements.
All Auto & General Assist benefits can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days per
week, 365 days a year by simply dialling 0860 10 42 10 from any cellular phone or
landline.

CAR HIRE
|
|
Available on both comprehensive and balance of third party, fire & theft policies,
the client may select the car hire facility for cover in the event of vehicle theft
and/or an accident. The theft option entitles the client to hire a vehicle for a
maximum of 27 days per incident in the event of the insured vehicle being stolen.
With the accident option (available on comprehensive cover only) the client is entitled
to hire a vehicle for a maximum of 12 days per incident, while the insured vehicle
is in for repairs after an accident. Should both theft and accident options be selected
(again only available with comprehensive cover), the client will be entitled to
hire a vehicle for 12 days in the event of an accident and 27 days in the event
of theft of the insured vehicle per incident. Monthly payments are determined by
the cover as well as hire car type selected – the client has a choice between a
1300 or a 1600 with air conditioning. Unlimited kilometre use, tourism levies and
full insurance are all automatically included features.

TRACKER |
|
When insuring a vehicle comprehensively or for balance of third party, fire &
theft, the client is offered the option to have either a Tracker Alert of Tracker
Retrieve system fitted free of charge. With the installation comes a three year
contract of which the monthly monitoring fee is subsidised in full/partially by
Auto & General. Should the policy be cancelled during this period, the client
will become responsible for payment of the monthly Tracker fee. Tracker is a stolen
vehicle recovery service contracted to the SAPS and has its own nationwide satellite
and radio network. To further Auto & General’s commitment to service excellence,
Tracker’s mobile unit installs every system at a time and place of the client’s
choice. Note that the additional excess charged for a stolen vehicle claim will
be waived if a stolen vehicle recovery system had been fitted. |

AUTO & GENERAL PROTECTION PLAN
|
|
Underwritten by Assupol, this product offers three plans, each with different pay-out
and monthly premium amounts, calculated according to risk profile in the event of
death. The main features and benefits of the Auto & General Protection Plan
are:

Cover for the main member or policyholder plus one spouse and five dependants (children
under 21 are automatically included)

Additional extensions for parents, parents-in law and domestic employees are also
available

Death as a result of HIV/AIDS related illness is covered
-
A three month waiting period exists for death as a result of natural causes (a 6
month waiting period for additional members on extended plans)
-
If the main member’s death is due to an accident, double the maximum compensation
amount will be paid out
-
Suicide is not covered within the first 24 months
- Claims will be settled in less than 2 working days if all documents is received
A maximum entry age of up to 80 years |

AUTO & GENERAL TOUCH-UP |
|
This small vehicle damage repair product provides cover to repair chips, minor dents and light scratches that is
caused by everyday motoring.
Any small damage that amount to less than R 2250.00(including VAT), with an excess
of R 350.00, will be allowed per incident and will be guaranteed for three years.
There is
no limit to the number of times a client may claim.
Monthly payment per vehicle
is a minimal R 39.00 with an excess of R 350.00, which
is payable with every visit. Cover activation is subject
to a 90-day waiting period,
where the product is added onto an existing motor policy
(i.e. cover older than 30 days), but becomes effective with the motor cover after
inspection of a newly insured vehicle.

AUTO & GENERAL PERSONAL ACCIDENT |
|
The policy provides the client with peace of mind in the event that they are injured,
hospitalised, disabled or dies, as a result of an accident(caused by external and visible means), that there will be money to assist. Covers is not only valid for vehicle accidents, but incidents such
as falling down the stairs, being mugged or shot etc.
Difference
plans are offered with monthly premiums ranging between R 35.00 and R
75.00, and
maximum compensation amounts of up to R 250 000.00 for Death and R 250
000.00 for Disablement.
The policyholder also has the option to add his/her spouse, at a discounted rate.
Other benefits include:

The pay-out for death or disablement is tax-free; and
- No medical examination is required
The hospital benefit commences from the first day in hospital, for up to 104 weeks
or until the Death or Disability benefit is being claimed.
Another industry first, is the automatic addition of RoadCover membership to this
policy. RoadCover is there to assist you with pre-paring and launching of a Road
Accident Fund claim. They are professional, experienced and do not take a part of
your pay-out as payment. |

AUTO & GENERAL CELLPHONE INSURANCE |
|
An ever increasing need for competitive cellphone insurance has become evident in
the consumer market over the last few years. Auto & General thus designed a
policy which offers a wide spectrum of cover and, instead of a flat rate, affordable
premiums based on the actual risk being insured. Virtually all perils are covered
anywhere in the world, with the exception of the following:

Theft from an unattended vehicle, unless the vehicle was locked

Loss of or damage to the battery and SIM card, unless they are stolen with the cellphone

Battery failure

Scratches or other superficial damage to the outer casing

Defects in design or manufacture

Stoppage or slowing down of work, process or operation

It is also a condition of cover that the client ensures that the phone is blacklisted
by the service provider in the event of theft. |
